In this news segment for Houston's KPRC-TV, Brigadier General William Desobry evaluates the state of the Vietnam War. At the time of this interview on June 28, 1968, Desobry had recently finished a two-year tour as Senior Advisor tot he ARVN IV Corps in Vietnam and was then serving as the Director of Army Operations. Despite Desobry's optimism, 1968 was less a turning point signaling American military success and more an indication of growing public opposition. After years of extensive military aid with little progress, more and more Americans began to doubt the federal government's assurances of victory.
