This 1997 home video captures the Bachmeier family of San Antonio, Texas, at their two regular vacation spots: Medina Lake in Bandera County and Big Bend National Park. The video begins in early July at Medina Lake, then experiencing high water levels due to a recent flood. The Bachmeiers enjoy cliff diving and boating and then walk through the water pouring over the Medina Dam spillway. Later that month, the Bachmeier children Don, Kim, and Deanna visit the family lake house, and Richard documents the arrival of a storm. In August, brothers Richard and Phil embark on an “Urban Detox” in Big Bend National Park. They challenge themselves to hike to the top of Casa Grande Peak and refresh themselves at the oasis at Cattail Falls. The video ends in September with another storm and a small family portrait on the shores of Medina Lake.
