2025 Governor's Award for Historic Preservation Recipient
Awarded by the Office of the Governor and Texas Historical Commission for highest achievement in preserving Texas heritage.
Founded in 2003 by Dr. Caroline Frick, the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to discovering, preserving, and sharing the cinematic heritage of the Lone Star State.
We aren't just saving celluloid and magnetic tape; we are safeguarding the collective memory of all Texans. Our online library features thousands of moving images, including home movies, amateur films, advertisements, local television, and industrial films created in Texas.
Our Impact by the Numbers
What We Do
The Texas Film Round-Up
Our signature community program. In partnership with the Office of the Governor's Texas Film Commission, we provide free digitization for Texas-related films and videotapes, ensuring these rare stories are preserved for future generations.
Education
We translate history directly into the classroom, providing Texas-standard educational resources and curriculum-mapped lesson plans that use archival footage to teach geography, politics, economics, and state culture.
Professional Services
Outside of our community programs, TAMI acts as a regional media preservation resource offering professional archival consulting, commercial high-end digitization, and extensive historical footage licensing services.
