This newsreel reports on Miss Wool of America 1963, Cheri Slikker, and her trip to New York City as part of her tour of the nation following her winning the pageant. Only 18 years old, Slikker was at the time the youngest contestant to win the title. During her two-week stay, Slikker visits the Savoy Hilton, models wool outfits for a photo shoot in Central Park, relaxes in Rockefeller Plaza, lunches at Tavern on the Green, and takes a helicopter ride over the city. The Miss Wool of America Pageant took place annually from 1952-1972 in San Angelo, sponsored by the National Wool Growers Association, the American Sheep Producers Council, and the Wool Bureau, Inc. Miss Wool represented the wool industry nationally, touring the country in the latest woolen fashions.
