Houston Professor And Preacher Featured On Next Archive Dive

Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is proud to announce the first Archive Dive of 2023, January 12 at 6 p.m. Houston filmmaker Marc Newsome joins TAMI to highlight Dr. Thomas F. Freeman. Dr. Freeman served Texas Southern University for more than 70 years as a professor of philosophy and founder of both the TSU Debate Team and Weekend College. He influenced countless lives and prominent Black leaders, including Otis King and Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.  Newsome will discuss his upcoming film which utilizes Freeman's home movie collection, which was digitized and made available online by TAMI. Newsome reveals why he chose to focus on Dr. Freeman, explores the legacy Dr. Freeman leaves behind, and previews scenes from the documentary which will be available later this year.
