Dispatch: June 2013

Texas Archive of the Moving Image has been honored for the second time by the American Association for State and Local History with a 2013 Leadership in History Award of Merit for our redesigned website.  Launched in September of 2012, our new website includes additional content, new navigation options, richer interactive experiences, and mobile access.  In 2010, TAMI and the Texas Film Commission were awarded the organization's Award of Merit and Wow Award for the Texas Film Round-Up.

On June 15th, TAMI partnered with the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum to screen "Tales of the Texas Rangers: The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers on Screen" during the Ranger Reunion festivities.  The screening featured home movies from Col. Homer Garrison, Jr., training videos and educational films created by the Texas Department of Public Safety, television representations of the Rangers, and footage of Hall of Famers Robert A. Crowder and MT "Lone Wolf" Gonzaulles. Read about the event in The Waco Tribune-Herald and see photos on our flickr.

June also saw the launch of our newest monthly feature, Mystery Video, where you help us to identify the people, places, and things in a new video. Thanks to all of those who gave their input on this month's video from the Cactus Pryor's collection. Remember, you can give us feedback or information on any of our moving images by commenting or tagging on the video page.
