Broadcast live on Beaumont’s KFDM-TV in June 1996, this footage includes three news segments about an upcoming air show celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Orange County Airport. Reporter Tom Wright reports from the scene, previewing attractions and featured aircraft. He also highlights one of the air show’s most special components: a Douglas DC-3. The airport previously had the historic plane on display from 1970 to 1976. Upon its construction in 1946, the Orange County Airport consisted of four turf runways and an aircraft storage hangar. The county purchased it from owner Edger Brown Jr. in 1973. Joining the station in 1985, Wright has worked for KFDM for more than 30 years. He currently serves as a news managing editor.
