This 1960s home movie captures the daily life of a sailor in the United States Navy. The camera operator often points the lens at nearby ships and planes, at his fellow sailors relaxing and performing their duties, and at the vast ocean. In between these naval vignettes are scenes of domestic life, including father-baby bonding and relaxing by the pool. At times, the operator appears to play with the camera, filming in slow motion and staging scenes with his friends. Before being digitized, this footage was transferred from film to videotape by projecting the film on a sheet and recording it with a video camera.
