This television news footage for Houston’s KPRC-TV, broadcast on October 21, 1976, goes behind the scenes at the Alley Theatre. The local theater company was beginning its 30th season. In addition to b-roll footage of the space and performance rehearsals, the film also includes interviews with Alley Director Nina Vance. Vance was a drama teacher before she founded the Alley Theatre. On October 7, 1947, she sent out 214 postcards asking about starting a new theater in Houston. With more than 100 responses, the Alley Theatre opened on November 18, 1947. The theatre had several locations, including an abandoned fan factory, until its permanent location in downtown Houston opened in 1968.
