    Tower, 09/29/65: Former US Senator John Tower conducts a press conference. Senator George Murphy of California also responds to questions about the perceived transformation of elections into popularity contests. Murphy starred in several Hollywood musicals from 1930 to 1952. The "Salinger" Tower refers to is Pierre Salinger, Murphy's challenger in the 1964 race. 
    Katzabach [sic], 09/30/65: United States Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach comments on the threat of the Ku Klux Klan in Texas. The Department of Justice prosecuted several Klan organizations and individual members for civil rights violations.
    Robert Shelton was the Imperial Wizard of the United Klans of America, a Ku Klux Klan group, from 1961 to 1987

    Press conference with NASA Group 4,  the fourth group of astronauts selected by NASA in June 1965. Group 4 was nicknamed "The Scientists" because it was the first to choose candidates based on their research and academic experience rather than their work as test pilots. They are, sitting left to right, Joseph Kerwin, Edward Gibson, Curt Michel, Duane Graveline, Harrison Schmitt, and Owen Garriott. Assistant Director of Flight Crew Operations Deke Slayton and Dr. Harry Wess, a NASA administrator, sit on the far left side of the table.
