    Outside Jules' Food Market
Sitting on the store's steps was a common pastime, according to an article in the New York Times. Like many corner stores in Galveston, Jules' Food Market bore a shed roof extending out to the edge of the street, supported by wooden posts. "They come here because it's cool," proprietor Jules Albert said in an 1970s interview, "and they can sit there whether it's rain or shine and, you know, enjoy themselves."
