This home movie from the 1960s shows Fort Worth native and longtime Corpus Christi resident Billie Trimble Chandler participating in several Japanese cultural events and observing artists. Chandler lived and worked in Japan for many years. When she returned to Texas in 1971, she brought with her a large collection of Japanese art, establishing the Japanese Art Museum of Corpus Christi in 1974. (The museum is now known as the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures.) In this film, she dances in a lantern festival, visits tombs in Yamaga, and observes artists creating models of Shinto temples.
