This home movie captures Parker Beebe's trip to the Boy Scouts 7th World Jamboree in Bad Ischl, Austria in August 1951. More than 13,000 boy scouts attended, representing 38 countries, to promote international friendships and world peace. Beebe was a member of Scout Troop 5 in Amarillo. Before embarking on his European adventure, Beebe and another scout from Amarillo, Bob Kerr, meet up with other Region 9 scouts in Dallas for a training camp. (Region 9 encompasses boy scouts from Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.) Next, the scouts begin their departure journey, making stops in New Orleans, Louisiana; Washington, D.C.; and New York, New York. (While touring the National Mall, the scouts meet with then-United States Senator Lyndon B. Johnson.) Finally, the boy scouts leave for Europe, sailing aboard the SS Argentina. The group makes a stop in Algiers, Algeria before docking in Naples, Italy. As Beebe and company make their ways towards the Austrian border, they tour Rome, Florence, and Venice.
