This footage features four edited segments from the special report series on heart disease that aired on 24 Action News on Austin's KVUE-TV. Produced by Roy Faires, the series looks at the risk factors that contribute to heart disease and what preventative measures one can take to improve one's heart attack quotient. Other members of the 24 Action News team make reports on heart disease as well, from the early symptoms of heart attacks to the necessity of CPR training. The series won the Public Health Award for Media Excellence, also known as PHAME, by the Texas Public Health Association. These four segments look at the medical causes for heart disease, such as dietary habits and hypertension, and how to treat these risk factors. Faires worked as a special project director and entertainment critic/reporter at KVUE-TV, Austin's ABC affiliate, from 1976-1989.
